I've had some nasty little bug for the past five days. Nothing bad enough to go to the doctor, but never feeling well enough to do much of anything.

Something about having a low grade fever that makes normally corny things really, really creepy. Like watching Japanese horror flicks. Where I'd normally be laughing at their cheesiness, I've been seriously creeped out.

Love bobcats, don't kill them!

First Bobcat Season Allowed Since 1978

NEW ORLEANS, 10:54 a.m. CDT August 7, 2003 - For the first time since 1978, hunters will be allowed to kill one bobcat per hunting season, according to state Wildlife and Fisheries Commission officials.

The measure comes as a means of controlling the bobcat population.

The legislature authorized bobcat hunting after supporters said there were increased sightings of bobcats and a corresponding decline in the rabbit population.

The bobcat season will begin in fall and will run at the same time as deer season.

Yoshi-C has been looking for a serial killer penpal. I did a little search for her and found two really good (bad) oned. Charles Ng who, with partner Leonard Lake, abducted, tortured, raped and murdered close to thirty women. Also abducted their husbands and children and killed them. In one case, he deep fried a woman's living baby right in front of her. It took 13 years and three million dollars to even get him to trial. Because he kept firing his lawyers and filing crazy lawsuits against the penal system.

If Yoshi writes to him, I hope she gets a P.O. box. You never know what other sickos he has contact with on the outside and we wouldn't want her to have any unwelcome psychopaths showing up at her door.

Ward Weaver Sr. was a trucker who abducted and raped hitchikers and buried them in concrete in his back yard. Last year, his son (Ward Weaver Jr) did the same with two girls from a Portland Oregon apartment complex. Jr. was caught after neighbors noticed him pouring a concrete slab in the backyard of a house he was renting. One of the girls was under that slab. Eerily like his daddy.

Anyway, if Yoshi wants to crawl in the minds of serial killers, these are two good examples.

Jen and Ef posted more pics of their gorgeous baby, Deacon.

Efrem looks the part of the proud Papa

Though I think he needs to take a page out of Jennifer's book on losing the baby weight.

Their cats, Lucky and Mocha, seem to be enjoying the presence of baby paraphenalia in the house

Trick gave me a surprise phone call last night. It was really nice having a giggle fest with him.

Then, much later, we had an all night IM session talking about authors we can't stand and often disagreeing about them. We have enough taste in common not to spend our time together bickering and enough that's different to keep things interesting.

Mom hasn't called from her travelling safari road trip for a while. I think I'll give her a ring today.

Listen, I hate Starbucks as much as anybody. But isn't it a better idea to refuse to patronize their establishments than to vandalize them? If people didn't shun better, local businesses in favor of that corporate monster (with shitty coffee and absurd prices), they wouldn't be able to push local coffee houses out of business!

Joe and I are thinking of taking a fall class together.

It looks like Italian, though I'm still pushing for Bonsai.
