I have been disgusted with myself for voting for that incompetent loon since well before the storm. He was a terrible mayor before Katrina (his answer to a spike in the murder rate was to ask people to pray for it to go down) but I think sitting through the storm made the poor idiot snap. Sorry, Ray, but a hurricane is a weather system, not divine retribution. Poorly made levees and the degradation of wetlands and barrier islands caused the city and surrounding areas to be wrecked, not crime and violence! Doesn't he have people on his staff to stop him from making speeches that give the city a worse image in the rest of the country? Also, do you think a white mayor making the same sort of speech, only hoping for a vanilla city, wouldn't be forced to resign? Wouldn't a slew of high-profile people raise a major outcry against the blatant racism of his remarks? You bet your butt they would! That speech and his intention to use eminent domain to steal people's homes and property make me think that maybe he needs to be forcibly removed from office before he does more damage! In the very least, this piece of white chocolate is mighty relieved that she never got around to changing her ID from Gentilly to the Parish, so she will be able to make a trip home to vote against Mr. Nagin. I only wish I could make it back next month to boo the man when he rides his horse in Zulu!
