Olivia's home early!

Dr. Grisoli (the best damn vet in SE Lousiana) got the infection under control and she was good to come home today.

We had a choice between stitching her tail up, or just leaving it open.

Stitching would have involved moving skin from one part of her tail to the wound. It would have healed faster, but any left over fluid would have been trapped and the infection could have come back, worse.

We decided to leave it open. This means I have to put some super goo inside the area every day and that we have the joy of giving her oral antibiotics twice a day (dread).

To keep her from going outside, we've locked her in the bedroom.

She's not a happy camper, but at least she's safe.

I love having my Pigmy princess evil genius home again!

On another medical front, Jen and Deacon (now eight months old) have had this nasty bronchitis for over a week now. Jen found out today that the pharmacy misprinted the instructions on their medications' lables and they've been taking less than half the antibiotics they were supposed to.

This is the sort of malpractice that creates antibiotic resistant strains of illnesses that can kill not only their original victims, but anybody who catches it from them.

If you get your perscriptions from Walgreens, double check with your doctor to be sure that you have the right directions.

Probably not a bad idea to do that regardless of the pharmacy you use.

I'm getting sick of seeing Trick and Deven be repeatedly mistreated by people that they've gone out of their way to help.

Take the "friend" Trick refers to as "little brother". When he was in his mid-twenties, his father went through some very complicated manuvers to get him and his brother out from under his roof (eventually running away to Seattle, without telling anyone where he was going so that "Little Brother" would stop demanding money and gifts from him). Trick and Deven took "Little Brother" into their home, rent free (since he'd never had a job and only went out for pot or Dead Tour).

Along with refusing to do anything around the house, "Little Brother" repeatedly mouthed off to his benefactors and spoke ill of them behind their backs.

After he'd moved out, "Little Brother" even refused to invite Trick and Deven to his wedding (with as long as the marriage lasted, Trick and Deven at least saved on the gift)!

He'll pop by their house, when there's free "green paint" in it for him. But regularly blows them off and refuses to return their phone calls, unless he needs "paint", of course.

Now Trick, still bends over backwards to maintain his relationship to the ungrateful little worm!

Why can't he spend his time and energy on making his and Deven's life better instead of wasting it on people who do nothing but use and abuse him?

Don't forget to get yourself some cool stuff and fight AIDS at the same time by visiting these shops (100% of the profits go to AmFAR).
